First New Friend

The First New Friend program is a community onboarding initiative that allows us to leverage one of our greatest assets – the Southern Charm and Hospitality of our residents – to engage and secure new ones by providing an opportunity for potential and/or new residents to connect with people with whom they have things in common.

For someone considering a move to a new city, it can be difficult to get good information about that city, and even harder to meet like-minded people.  First New Friend is an ambassador program that connects people who are passionate about Frankfort with those who are new or considering a move to our community.

If you are considering a move or have recently moved to Frankfort, you can apply for the program and be connected with someone with whom they have things in common and who can provide basic information necessary when learning about your new community…neighborhoods, housing, driver’s license, voter registration, trash/recycling, public transportation, child care, healthcare, pet care, fun things to do, schools, recreation, where to eat, etc.

If you are a newcomer, we are excited to welcome you to Frankfort. Below are links to help you explore our community and the newcomer’s application. The ambassador’s application follows, along with information for employers who wish to use the program as a recruitment tool.

EMPLOYERS RECRUITMENT TOOL

The focus of the Think Frankfort First program is assisting to serve as a recruitment and retention tool for employers.

This initiative is available to all Frankfort businesses, at no charge, to use as they grow and attract skilled workers from out of the area. It is a service of Kentucky Capital Development Corporation and local volunteers.

As part of this program your new hires or job candidates, and their entire family, will be introduced to a community ambassador, their First New Friend in Frankfort, who will help them see that Frankfort is an excellent place to call home.

They will be provided a community tour; their own personal community ambassador, with similar interests and backgrounds, who will assist with their transition to a new community; intentional invitations to networking events and opportunities to meet local leadership; accompanying partner career support; and newcomer information and welcome gifts.

Ideally, when you (the employer) have recently hired, or are in the process of hiring, a new employee from out of the area, you would refer that employee to the First New Friend program by providing them this link where they will have access to information about the First New Friend program, the Newcomer’s Guide, a video about Frankfort, an area map, etc.
